The 99th Burning of Zozobra takes place Friday, September 1, 2023, and Zozobra 2023 tickets are now on sale. This event is one of Santa Fe’s most popular: a fun, affordable, and family-friendly party where you also get to burn away your glooms to start life fresh without all those worries dragging you down! All this fun PLUS the great feeling you get knowing that net proceeds go to support children in Santa Fe through the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe, the folks who manage the Burning of Zozobra.

There are many exciting Zozobra 2023 ticket options for this 99th time of taking down Old Man Gloom, from General Admission tickets with a special New Mexico residents discount to Z-Zone tickets with dedicated seating and valet transportation to and from the event. Or you might want the Ultimate Zozobra Experience, which includes dinner at La Fonda on the Plaza, an escort to the venue, throwing out beachballs to the crowd, and — get this! — roasting marshmallows over Zozobra’s fiery embers!

Zozobra 2023 Ticket Options

General Admission tickets are only $20 in advance and kids 10 and under are free! There’s a special offer for Zozobra 2023 tickets: Buy three General Admission tickets and get one free, but only if you buy in advance by Monday, July 31; this offer applies to General Admission only, not to General Admission with Express Pass.

General Admission tickets will be $25 per person online after July 31 and $30 at the gate. And if you’re a New Mexico resident, you get a further $5 discount on General Admission tickets purchased until August 15!

General Admission with Express Entry tickets allow you to skip the lines! They’re only $25 in advance, $30 online the day of the event, and $35 at the entry gate. About Zozobra and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe Zozobra with fireworks can be seen with Zozobra 2023 tickets.

Created by Will Shuster, a member of an artists group known as Los Cinco Pintores who came to New Mexico in the 1920s, Zozobra first appeared in 1924 as a six-foot puppet, and over the years has grown to a towering 50-foot high marionette made of wood, wire, and cotton cloth and stuffed with hundreds of bags of shredded paper and “glooms,” the anxieties, worries, and woes of the past year written on paper and destined to burn with Zozobra.

For the last 99 years, the people of New Mexico, families, and friends new and old have annually made their way to Fort Marcy Park to view this one-of-a-kind pageant.
Since 1964, the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe has held the exclusive copyright and trademarks to the tradition, which is the club’s major fundraiser held as a community service event to benefit children via grants made from the event’s net proceeds.
