Poetics of Light

Opening April 27 at the New Mexico History Museum, "Poetics of Light: Pinhole Photography" explores a historical art form that exemplifies thoroughly contemporary ideals: Do-it-yourself handmade technology with a dash of steampunk style. Some 225 photographs and 40 cameras show how a light-tight box pierced by a hole and holding a piece of old-school film can reveal alternate versions of reality.

Tribal Celebration

The annual Gathering of Nations Pow Wow – which bills itself as the largest of its kind in North America – returns to The Pit in Albuquerque, April 24-26. The event draws more than 3000 Native American and indigenous singers and dancers, hundreds of entertainers, vendors, artists and tribal leaders representing some 700 tribes.
