Rodeo is coming back to town! One of only 60 PRCA-Sanctioned Rodeos in the USA
This is the 65th year that Rodeo De Santa Fe will be held from June 18th through 21st at the rodeo grounds. The Rodeo de Santa Fe began in 1949 when Roy Butler, Austin “Slim” Green, Gene Petchesky, Paul Ragle, Paul Rutledge and few others had the determination to organize a professional rodeo in Santa Fe, NM.
Their dream exceeded their expectations and today remains one of the top 60 PRCA Rodeos in the nation. Last year’s Rodeo de Santa Fe drew over 500 contestants, including World Champion cowboys Taos Muncy, Trevor Brazile and JW Harris; a roster we can expect to see again this year with more up and coming champions. If you especially enjoy cowgirls’ barrel racing, be sure to be there on Wednesday night.
The Parade is scheduled for Saturday, June 14th at 11am. Equine entrants are welcome but no dogs please. The parade starts at Murales Road going down to West Palace then back to the starting point. If you wish to ride your own horse in the parade, please call Beth at 505-490-3008 or submit the Rodeo Parade Entry Form.
Tickets are still available for all evenings ranging in price from $10 for general seating, to $148 for four box seats and a parking pass. For tickets, go to www.ticketssantafe.org or buy them at the door.
Rodeo grounds open at 5pm with the activities starting with Mutton Busting at 6:30pm. Food vendors are always on hand for a variety of taste treats and the vendors include hats, T-shirts and a tack trailer.
