After graduating from Los Alamos High School in 2000, Ryan Finn moved to New Orleans, where he studied music education at Loyola University – New Orleans. While in New Orleans, he had the opportunity to perform with many great jazz musicians, including Tony ‘Oulabula’ Bazley, Dave Liebman, Randy Brecker, Wyclef Gordon, John Mahoney, Johnny Vidocavich, Tony Dagradi, New Orleans Jazz Vipers, Troy Andrews (a.k.a. Trombone Shorty), and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. Finn played regularly around the city as well as at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Since returning to Los Alamos, Ryan has performed with many local musicians in the Santa Fe area including: the Three Faces of Jazz, Andy Kingston, Pat Malone, Arlen Asher, Jan McDonald, Chris Ishee, Russell Scharf, Kanoa Kaluhiwa, John Trentacosta, Chief Sanchez, the Pleasure Pilots, Laura Clark, Robin Holloway, Mikey Chavez, Mark Clarke, and more.
J.Q. was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he started playing professionally as a teenager in a variety of musical styles including jazz, classical, funk, ska, and reggae. He graduated with a B.M. in Jazz Performance and a B.A. in Chinese Language from Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, having studied trumpet with jazz trumpet masters Marcus Belgrave and Kenny Davis there. After working primarily as a jazz musician in Shanghai, China for 8 years, J.Q. has returned to his hometown of Santa Fe in 2010. Individually, JQ enjoys playing in a number of styles and contexts, including electronic music, acid jazz, salsa, funk, reggae, and Afro-Cuban.
