Gallery Chartreuse opened its doors in December 2008 with the chanting of blessings by the monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery. All present felt a sense of calm, peace and hopefulness for a new beginning. The gallery maintains the essence of their introduction into the Santa Fe art community by continuing to offer thought-provoking and uplifting works of art. Works appealing to all palates from realism to abstract, created by emerging and established artists.

The Grand Opening on May 1, 2009 was a phenomenal success. Over 500 patrons attended the opening reception decorated with Maypole ribbons in celebration of the beginning of summer. Toasting the new gallery with a champagne bar at the neighbor’s next-door, SantaFe.com, featured artists were enjoying the attention and praise, and everyone was thrilled with the expanding energy and spirit of the event.

For private showings please contact the gallery at 505.992.3391 or 505.577.0399.

Artists

Daniel Bethune

Daniel Bethune has devoted the last three years to his personal study of the New Mexican landscape. This has resulted in brilliant and illuminating paintings of gentle and, often, mystical views. Prior to moving to Santa Fe, Daniel lived in Hawaii. He is internationally collected.

Dwight Hume

Dwight Hume, a well-known Santa Fe artist, is showing his uplifting and spiritually inspired works in stone, welded metal and bronze. Moved by his favorite poet, the Sufi mystic Rumi, Dwight’s sculptures range from abstract to realistic. Come see his newest alabaster carvings, “Nurturing Soul” and “Illumination”.

Kay Kenton

Kay Kenton, abstract expressionist and colorist, paints with an emotion-filled style. She is inspired by her mentor, the world –renowned Alfred Rogoway.

Thomas Bethune

Thomas Bethune, California photographer, captures the profoundness of his spiritual pilgrimage to India. Subjects of bright orange doors, a blue Buddha, deities, stupas and other monastic art adorn the gallery walls. Come see his newest series, “Spirit Trees”. The inspiration for these photos comes from the Redwood Forests of Northern California.
