Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, Inc.

Join us in celebrating the 90th year of the Santa Fe Indian Market and Indian Market week beginning Monday, August 15th through Sunday, August 21st.

"The Southwestern Association for Indian Arts brings Native arts to the world by inspiring artistic excellence, fostering education, and creating meaningful partnerships."

The Santa Fe Indian Market is the preeminent Native arts market in the world and the largest cultural event in the state of New Mexico; it simultaneously embraces the past, present and future of Indian Arts.

There is simply no other time and place in the Native arts world where the impact and influence of Native culture and identity is reinforced, reestablished and reinvented. The annual event is held during the third weekend of August.

The Indian Market features 1,100 artists representing over 160 tribes and attracts over 100,000 visitors from all over the world. Over four days, approximately 140 million dollars is generated in our community. Indian Market is unlike any other event in the world – it is the one time during the year when locals and tourists alike can enjoy the breadth of native expression through visual arts, film, literature, culinary arts, music and performance. Buyers, collectors and gallery owners come to Indian market to take advantage of the opportunity to buy directly from the artists. For many visitors, this is a rare opportunity to meet the artists and learn about contemporary Indian arts and cultures.

Market and Indian Market week include various events such as the annual Gala Auction at the La Fonda on the Plaza, August 20th, 2011. Like the Indian Market itself, the Gala is the one time and place during the year where the world’s greatest native artwork and the most discerning collectors meet. Add the beauty, impeccable food and service from the La Fonda, and the convivial spirit and glamour of Indian Market comes alive.
