Santa Fe’s professional full-sized orchestra with chorus
…bringing great music to life
We are thrilled to present our 29th season of bringing great music to life. From our exciting concerts in the beautiful Lensic Performing Arts Center and Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi to our award winning outreach programs at elementary schools and retirement communities, The Santa Fe Symphony, Santa Fe’s professional full-sized orchestra, focuses on orchestral masterpieces that thrill the senses and feed the soul.
This season launched with our “Season Opener” on September 30, 2012, which presented the First Prize Winner of the prestigious Naumburg Piano Competition Tessa Lark. On December 16, 2012, the Weiss Kaplan-Newman Trio joined us for “Beethoven’s Birthday Bash” and on April 21, 2013, we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring you “April Joy” featuring the intoxicating Anderson-Roe Piano Duo performing Mozart’s Concerto for 2 Pianos. “Spring’s Passion” will be the perfect finale on May 18 & 19, 2013 with Orff’s amazingly powerful Carmina burana.
History of the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus
Twenty-nine years ago, a group of dedicated musicians and music-lovers, under the leadership of Founder, Gregory W. Heltman, made a bold decision to establish a professional symphony orchestra in Santa Fe. Since then, The Santa Fe Symphony has continued to fulfill its mission to inspire, delight, engage, and enrich audiences of all ages and cultures in Santa Fe, Northern New Mexico and beyond, offering orchestral and choral concerts of the highest professional quality as well as education and outreach programs for adults and schoolchildren. Performing a regular subscription series at the 790-seat Lensic Performing Arts Center, The Santa Fe Symphony, conducted by Music Director Steven Smith, is recognized as a vital, community-focused musical organization. It is one of two fully professional, full-sized symphony orchestras in the state and is the largest professional symphonic organization in Santa Fe.
