    We are thrilled to present our 28th season of bringing great music to life. From our exciting concerts in the beautiful Lensic Performing Arts Center and Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi to our award winning outreach programs at elementary schools and retirement communities, the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, Santa Fe’s professional full-sized orchestra, performs music that touches each of us as audience and musicians.

    This season, spanning October through June, features outstanding gold medal and first prize winning soloists, breathtaking and beloved masterworks, and a unique new collaboration with the Santa Fe Marimba Festival. As Santa Fe’s professional, full-sized orchestra with chorus, the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus focuses on orchestral masterpieces that thrill the senses and feed the soul.

    Season Highlights:

    • Our Season Spectacularon Sunday, October 9, 2011, features 24-year-old pianist Adam Golka, winner of two of America's most distinguished piano competitions: the 2008 Gilmore Young Artist Award and, most recently, the 2009 Max I. Allen Classical Fellowship Award of the American Pianists Association.
    • The stunning Soyeon Lee, First Prize Winner of the prestigious Naumburg Piano Competition, joins us on February 19, 2012 for Northern Lights, performing Grieg’s gorgeously romantic Piano Concerto.
    • For our Grand Finale, you’ll be swept away by Gold Medal Laureate Clara-Jumi Kang, winner of the Indianapolis Violin Competition, performing Lalo’s virtuosic Symphonie espagnoleon May 20, 2012.

    There here are many other favorites to enjoy during our brilliant new season. From Respighi’s Pines of Rome,Handel’s Watermusic,and Brahms’ Requiem to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Stravinsky’s dramatic Firebird, this is a season not to be missed!

    History of the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus

    Twenty-seven years ago, a group of dedicated musicians and music-lovers, under the leadership of Founder, Gregory W. Heltman, made a bold decision to establish a professional symphony orchestra in Santa Fe. Since then, the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus has continued to fulfill its mission to inspire, delight, engage, and enrich audiences of all ages and cultures in Santa Fe, Northern New Mexico and beyond, offering orchestral and choral concerts of the highest professional quality as well as education and outreach programs for adults and schoolchildren. Performing a regular subscription series at the 790-seat Lensic Performing Arts Center, the Santa Fe Symphony, conducted by Music Director Steven Smith, is recognized as a vital, community-focused musical organization. It is one of two fully professional, full-sized symphony orchestras in the state and is the largest professional symphonic organization in Santa Fe.
