Museums

Santa Fe has such a rich history that we've got 16 museums to chronicle it all. Visit museums devoted to folk art, Indian culture, Spanish Colonial art, New Mexico history, and regional art; many of them on Santa Fe’s own museum hill. We've even have a kids museum, offering hands-on exhibits, engaging activities and a rock-climbing wall.

The New Mexico History Museum is the newest addition to the Museum of New Mexico, and it's filled with fascinating exhibits exploring the region's history, from the ancient indigenous people to the Spanish colonists, the Old Santa Fe Trail pioneers, the artists and writers of the early 20th century and the evolution of Los Alamos. You can learn about Spanish Colonial life at El Rancho de las Golondrinas, a living history museum where characters recreate the era's daily life.

If you’re interested in art museums, be sure to check out the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, the only museum devoted to a single female artist. Without a doubt, these museums are some of the best attractions in Santa Fe!
