Santa Fe has long played a starring role in Hollywood movies, from Westerns and romances to modern day action thrillers. Maybe it's our mountainous scenery or our wide, open skies. More likely, it's due to the financial incentives, tax breaks and investments, that New Mexico began offering film makers a few years ago. An ever-growing New Mexico film industry means that on any given day film crews can be found working on a new production that will soon be showing at a movie theater near you.

Santa Fe is also a big movie-lover's town. We've got dozens of theaters in Santa Fe showing indie films as well as Hollywood blockbusters. We've even got a few art houses where you can see international films as well as limited releases. And our annual Santa Fe Film Festival, held in October, offers a roster of independent films by local, national and international filmmakers. Whether you're a fan of comedies, dramas or Westerns, Santa Fe is definitely a movie fan's mecca.
