Each year in Mid-December.
Each year Santa Fe celebrates the meaning of Christmas with a traditional Spanish play that presents a re-enactment of the plight of Mary and Joseph as they search for lodgings in Bethlehem on Christmas Eve. The characters in the play begin their journey from the Palace of the Governors then march around the Plaza before they return to the Palace for refreshments. Along the way, Mary and Joseph are heckled by the Devil, who follows them on their search. This is a popular event with locals and visitors alike, offering a window into the Spanish celebration of the holiday.
This year, Las Posadas is performed onSunday, December 15 • 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. Go to http://www.santafe.com/calendar/event/las-posadas3 for more info.
