Event Description

For this highly interactive workshop, writers will bring works in progress for critique, and incorporate the suggestions to improve, polish, and perfect the piece.  Over-writing, under-writing, word choice, active voice, pacing, character development, and plotting will be discussed.  Learn from each other as well as Ault, use what you learn immediately in class, and watch your writing and that of your colleagues improve during the course of the day.

Bring a two-to-three sentence summary/description of your work in progress plus
1. The first fifteen pages of your novel or non-fiction work, OR
2. The first 1,000 words of your article or essay, OR
3. The first scene of your screenplay

Sandi Ault is the award-winning author of the four-book WILD Mystery Series. Her first novel, Wild Indigo, debuted to critical acclaim from The New York Times and The Washington Post.   It was the first debut novel to be nominated for The Mary Higgins Clark Award, which it won handily. The other books in the series have equally impressive credentials.  Ault is a former journalist and newspaper section editor.  In addition to writing, researching, and exploring the Southwest, she is a much sought after writing teacher for conferences and workshops.  Her stint as a judge for “Writing with the Stars” at the 2011 Tony Hillerman Writers Conference earned rave reviews.
