Event Description

Join us for the Winter Festival of Song featuring the world premiere of “Salve Regina Mater” by Ivo Antognini, a piece of luxurious harmonies. The Ensemble will sing “Ubi Caritas” by Ola Gjeilo, a modern piece in chant tradition, in addition to a number of other a cappella pieces.

Accompanied with glockenspiel and harp, the Ensemble will perform “Company at the Creche” by Daniel Pinkham. Based on poetry by Norma Farber the music tells of seven animals--stork, dove, caterpillar, rooster, porcupine, spider and lion-- who visit the Infant. “Annunciation” by Lloyd Pfautsch, a piece of depth and reverence performed with harp brings magic to the concert.

This 33rd Season program includes a reprise of our 2009 Commission “Listen,” by composer Kinley Lange. The piece asks us to listen--to be wholly present--as contemporary tonality brings richness to the evocative poetry written by his daughter, Charlotte Lange.
