WildEarth Guardians Valles Caldera Fence Removal

Event Description

This 89,000 acre preserve in the Jemez Mountains, was once a private cattle ranch. WildEarth Guardians has advocated since it's purchase that this stunning place of innumerable natural resources be restored. In 2009, the Trust managing the land agreed, and Guardians volunteers began to pull miles of fence that has for decades stood as a barrier to elk migrations, and a fully functional ecosystem. Join us again this year as we continue our fence removal project. You will be rewarded for your hard work by seeing  wildlife moving freely in the park for the first time since the early 1900's.
