Joey Shaheen is a touring singer/songwriter from Minneapolis escaping the brutal cold via his: "Sled-Dog-Slushy" tour. His band: The Wrong Omar have played throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. His writing style ranges from folk rock to indie quirk with some easy listening blue-grass-a-billy thrown in as well. The songs are all melodic and hook oriented with strong intelligent lyrics. The Wrong Omar has a strong radio presence in their base. Joey is touring solo, opening the show on the piano with some smooth easy listening pop, then on to guitar with rack harp for some folk rock with jazz harp. Then he engages a looping device where he creates a full band mix in real-time using bass guitar, keyboards and percussion. He closes the show with some foot-stomping music. The review from the Twin Cities Daily Planet is a good summary of what you will come away with: "...They're three pieces—two acoustic guitars, percussion. One fellow is fiddling with sweet-sounding major-seven chords while the engineer fiddles with microphones and wires. At length, The Wrong Omar open with a tune that utilizes the chord progression that guy was playing. It's beautiful with a strong, pointed chorus that compels with engaging urgency....when it hits, it's dead-on, brilliantly inspired....Excellent songwriting. Warm, wry melodies over bright, moody chords...."
