The Julesworks Follies Naughty Nineteenth Edition
Saturday, October 26th at 7 pm at Teatro Paraguas
(Santa Fe, New Mexico) Julesworks presents edition nineteen of Santa Fe’s Monthly Variety Show, The Julesworks Follies, on Saturday, October 26th at 7 pm. We are calling this, our 19th show, the Naughty Nineteenth for no legitimate reason. It will be at a new venue for us, the cozy Teatro Paraguas, at 3205 Calle Marie.
Our host is Eric Davis, an actor, musician, promoter and man about town who works for Santafe.com and Hutton Broadcasting. Eric will also present his rendition of Poe’s The Raven. Eric gigs with several bands, performs in an array of hats, and in a previous Follies edition, he presented, with Jules, a staged reading of their original short The Odder Couple.
Our Very Special Guest will be Joe West who will present selections of his Spoken Word, material he has been crafting throughout his career but rarely presents. Joe is one of Santa Fe's most cherished musicians and performers. He plays with the Santa Fe Revue and has a new album out and music videos.
Our resident musician Greg Turner returns. Turner, of legendary punk rock fame, tours solo and in various bands and just played the first live gig with Steve Terrell at the Jean Cocteau. He is shooting a music video. Steve Terrell will join, schedule permitting.
Trent Zelazny continues to get acclaim world-wide with his fiction. He reads almost monthly with the Follies and has had plays presented, one of which is being staged in Australia. He has a new book for sale and a new edition of his story collection.
Patrick Chavez continues performing Zoe’s Stories. A vibrant storyteller, Patrick’s fun nature continues to get him notice.
Al Staggs returns at last with his unique comic impersonations. Al does his shockingly accurate versions of cherished comedians. He travels doing lectures and impersonations including Lincoln and works as a funeral home director.
Jasmine Quinsier returns with her special story telling belly dance as well as original spoken word poetry. She will also be part of the Python and Improved Improv.
Julesworks presents the 19th chapter of their serial "Whatever You Do", starring Jules, Tom Sibley, Brittani Marie Chapman (schedule permitting, we hope), and the voice of Stephen Rommel, chronicling the non-linear adventures of a band of heroic non-heroes.
The Full-On Monty Python Copyright Infringement Experience aka The Monty Python Recreation Brigade Squad Posse aka Crunchy, Raw, Un-Boned, Real, Dead Frog Parrot Droppings recreates original Monty Python material including sketches, snippets of their films and the Pepperpots.
The players include Stephen Rommel, Tom Sibley, Jules, Brittani Marie Chapman and Mario Ulibarri and other surprise (and surprised) performers.
Mario, man about town, is a dancer and performer who was recently the hero in the Melodrama.
Julesworks continues their rip-offing homage to other great works, including a scene from Airplane!, but not for another two hours.
Tom Sibley presents snippets of his unique one-man comedy and as a member of the Jworks Rip-Off Squads and their Serialized Play.
Experimentalist Andrew Kirkpatrick returns with a new piece combining his talents as a singer (Karaoke Master), electronic musician and more. Andy has hosted many times as well.
Julesworks will continue a new component of flash Improv Games with audience involvement. The Julesworks Improved Improv
Authors will present short snippets of their work including: Leticia Cortez, Jodi Drinkwater, Maryls Fick, and Daryl Lorrenzo Wellington.
The Open Slot Slot will carry on to possibly allow a quick piece by interested audience members.
It is close to Halloween so come dressed up or well dressed.
Tickets will be a suggested $7 donation to support Julesworks and Teatro Paraguas. We will stage the Julesworks Raffle of goodies and prizes donated from restaurants, merchants and artists across Santa Fe to support Julesworks' effort to stage this community monthly variety show.
We thank Marti Mills for our graphic design.
The show will carry on monthly and shuffling venues with our 20th show to come in November at the newly revamped Jean Cocteau on a Sunday to be confirmed shortly.
All performers and artists, as well as anyone interested in helping behind the scenes, are encouraged to submit possible show ideas to Jules at: firstname.lastname@example.org
