The Backwoods Benders bring their rollicking vintage music to The Cowgirl Hall of Fame every Sunday in March. On March 17 the group transforms into The Irish Benders. The Benders deliver a combined 240 years of music experience to the stage. The Pappy O’Daniel Irish Biscuit Hour features many songs from the award winning film, “O Brother Where Art Thou”. Hearing these traditional and contemporary old time and bluegrass tunes will get you dancing, tapping, clapping and laughing. You may find a teardrop hanging over a smile. The Backwoods Benders are equally versed in precise melody, driving rhythm and haunting vocals. Performing a wide range of music (1870-1970) the Benders perform classics by The Carter Family, Bob Wills, Ralph Stanley, Allison Krause, John Prine and Nanci Griffith among others. Old time fiddle tunes and old time gospel drift through every performance. There is even some Cowgirl yodeling. When the Benders tr ansform into their Irish alter ego you will hear the most rousing Irish Pub songs and driving dance tunes. The music of Makem & Clancy, The Dubliners, The Irish Rovers and The Pogues will come alive and vibrant. You may even hear a little Chieftains and Celtic Women too!.
