Event Description

Could you survive life in Colonial and Territorial New Mexico? Stop by this weekend to practice outdoor survival techniques including creating fire, building shelters, using an atlatl, making adobe and much more.

• Shoot a bow and arrow, and throw a spear with an atlatl      
• Start a fire without matches and learn to make a wilderness shelter
• Build a snare and see animal tracking techniques    
• Visit with master flintknappers and make arrowheads      
• Help scrape and tan hides and learn about buckskin     
• Make yucca soap and find out how herbs treat injury and disease     
• Learn about wilderness first aid from the American Red Cross    
• Take a ride in a horse-drawn wagon and much more!
 
All in the setting of a 200-acre Spanish colonial ranch and living history
museum with 34 buildings, agricultural fields and costumed villagers!
