Event Description

Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) announces a choral concert to be held on Monday, February 24, at 6:30 pm, at the Lensic Performing Arts Center. Nearly 400 students, grades 6-12, from Capshaw, DeVargas, and Ortiz middle schools, Aspen, Gonzales, and El Dorado community schools, and Capital and Santa Fe high schools will perform. SFPS Chief Academic Officer Almudena Abeyta will deliver opening remarks.

Jeffrey Owens, SFPS Choral Program Team Leader and Capital High Director of Choirs, remarks, “We are privileged to be given this opportunity through Santa Fe Concert Association and the Lensic to sing in a performance space of this caliber. To perform here makes an indelible impression upon these young people, and hearing all the choirs in the district, from grades six through twelve, inspires these young musicians to continue expressing their humanity throughout their school years.”

Literature includes “Sing Alleluia,” Cantar,” “My Own True Love has Gone Away,” “Durme, Durme,” and “All Things Bright and Beautiful.” The concluding mass finale of “This Little Light of Mine” is a prominent tradition of SFPS Choirs On Stage concerts at the Lensic, with hundreds of students singing from the stage and balcony.

Santa Fe Public Schools’ choirs continue to delight the residents of Santa Fe. Whether it is singing at retirement centers, the NM State Round House, or outdoor events on Canyon Road, SFPS students are always ready and able to provide our community with the enjoyment of vocal music.

~Admission free, suggested donation $8 per attendee.
