Event Description

Join Dr. Chandra Taylor Smith, Vice President of Conservation & Education with the National Audubon Society and Dr. Melanie L. Harris, Associate Professor of Religion and Ethics at Texas Christian University to explore nature and renew your sense of self and your care for the environment. Both guest speakers are both deeply committed to personal conservation and are scholars in Eco Womanist thought.

Personal Conservation Reflection Agenda:
10:00-11:00 am: Learn about creative and inspiring contemporary reflections on human connections to nature and how being connected to nature can drive people to personal conservation and daily practices to conserve nature.
11:00-12:00 pm: Take a guided bird walk on one of the Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary trails to explore your personal feelings about being connected to nature (Bird watching and nature journal writing will be practiced.)
12:00-1:00 pm: Over a light lunch, share the inspirations from your birding experience and connection with nature, as well as take away a range of personal conservation practices that can be done daily to keep you connected to nature.
