Event Description

Twenty-three brand-new graduates of Santa Fe Community College’s nursing program will practice centuries-old traditions as they receive their nursing pins from family or faculty. The Department of Nursing Education’s pinning ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 17 at 1 p.m. in the Jemez Rooms at SFCC, 6401 Richards Ave. in Santa Fe, NM. The graduates will receive pins that represent the completion of the physical and mental demands of nursing school at SFCC. The students will also light candles, symbolizing Florence Nightingale’s practice of lighting her way with an oil lamp as she made rounds at night. Nursing faculty members Kim Bear and Susan Winter and student Meighan Edwards will speak at the ceremony.
