As we approach the coming fire season, you may be wondering how the BLM, Forest Service, and other agencies work to protect you from wildfires. This month, at the New Mexico Public Lands Information Center’s Third Thursday lecture series, we take a look at the men and women who work to minimize the impact of wildfires here in New Mexico with our program “Living with Wildfires: Prevention, Control, and Recovery.” Representatives from the BLM, Forest Service, and Los Alamos National Laboratory will discuss how we prepare for fire season, how we manage fires when they are burning, and how we work to recover from fires once they occur.
The PLIC’s Third Thursday lecture begins at 7:00, May 17th, at the New Mexico State Office for the BLM at 301 Dinosaur Trail in Santa Fe. Doors open at 6:30, with time for a brief Q&A afterwards. For further questions, please contact Kevin at the Public Lands Information Center at 505-954-2002.
The Third Thursday Lectures are a joint presentation of the BLM and the Public Lands Interpretive Association.
