Northern New Mexico College’s student organizations will host a free concert featuring Albuquerque-based music group Native Roots April 30, 2014 at 3 p.m. outside the Montoya administration building. The event is open to the public.
Native Roots is a group “dedicated to the sound and spirit of Reggae music, rooted by Native American life, culture and music." They have released three albums, all of which have been nominated for awards. Native Roots’ music appeals to a large spectrum of audience demographics (youth, elders, mainstream, native) and receives national and international airplay. Well traveled, Native Roots has performed nationally at casinos, Tribal Nation events, community events, and reggae festivals. To learn more about Native Roots, visit www.nativeroots.net
The concert will be part of Northern’s annual Cultural Day, sponsored by Student Life Activities, the Northern Pueblos Institute, the American Indian Student Organization, and NNMC Student Senate.
