Sculpture garden tour, Aztec dancers, a four-course meal and sunset in Galisteo- who could ask for a lovelier event.
This is the second in the Adventures à la Carte event series that benefits Kitchen Angels. Help us raise funds to feed homebound clients while you have fun and enjoy new (or favorite) experiences with fellow Kitchen Angels supporters.
Enjoy an unforgettable afternoon featuring fine food, sculpture and flautist, Phillip Haozous. Our adventure begins with a performance by Danza Azteca de Anahuac. It proceeds with a guided tour of the magnificent sculptures created by Allan Houser, displayed in the incomparable outdoor setting of the Houser Foundation. The grandeur of the landscape is the perfect setting for the Native American feast prepared by Lois Ellen Frank. Lois will provide the context for each of the courses and share insights about historical and contemporary usage.
Allan Houser dedicated his life to reflecting the cultural experience of Native America. His mastery of the arts include painting, sculpting, stone carving and bronze casting. As a virtuoso of indigenous art, his influence retains its validity and dynamism in the contemporary world.
Lois Ellen Frank is a renowned photographer, chef, and author based in Santa Fe. She has a Doctorate in Cultural Anthropology with a focus on Native American foods and plants. Lois is a featured cooking instructor at the Santa Fe School of Cooking where she teaches about native foods of the Southwest and Mexico.
A full event will raise funds for 1,344 homebound client meals!
