Brain Sardella will lecture on THE INTRANSIGENT POWER GRID – Nearly half of the electricity generated today comes from power plants using steam turbines built in the days of rotary-dial telephones and manual typewriters.
How did the electric power industry miss out on the technological revolution of the past 50-years?
What can be done to bring the grid into line with the telecommunications, transportation and computing industries that have evolved over the same time frame?
We’ll identify factors that hinder power grid evolution, and propose a “systems change” approach for moving the grid in a beneficial direction.
