The seventh annual La Tierra Torture Mountain Bike Race will be Saturday, May 4th at La Tierra Trails in Santa Fe’s northwest quadrant.
The La Tierra Torture Mountain Bike Race will be one day of great racing activity this year. The race has something for everyone—with categories for all levels of racers from beginners to professionals.
“The race will have a beginners course, which is primarily double track, and truly doable for all beginners. We would like to encourage anyone new to mountain biking to come try it out,” stated Jan Bear, race director.

In the past six years, La Tierra Torture has raised and donated more than $40,000 to local charities including the Santa Fe Conservation Trust, Santa Fe Trails Alliance, Atalaya Search and Rescue, the ForeKids Scholarship Fund, and the Bike Coalition of New Mexico.

The 2013 La Tierra Torture MTB race will have one day of great racing activity this year! Be among the first 100 racers to register and get a free La Tierra Torture custom jersey! This year’s race loop for the Pro/Cat1/SS and Cat2 racers is 9.5 miles long, with approx. 1075’ of climbing. The Cat3 loop is 4 miles long with 325’ of climbing. Pro/Cat1 3 laps, Cat2/SS 2 laps and Cat3 2 laps of the 4 mile loop. Age classes include 60+.
Location: La Tierra Trails in Santa Fe’s Northwest Quadrant. Trail map here. Race headquarters will be at the La Cuchara Trailhead. Parking will be tight so carpool, if possible, and get there early! We will be using the Unity Church parking lot so please follow the parking attendant’s instructions.
Schedule: Saturday Cross Country: 9am start for Pro and Cat 1 men 18+ to 39, other classes and age groups to follow in a staggered fashion. Cat 3 start at 11 AM.
Prizes: Cash prizes for Pro and Cat 1, three deep. Cool prizes for Cat 2 and 3, three deep. Award ceremony at 12:30 PM.
