The Center For Inner Truth (CFIT) and Transitions Radio Magazine (TRM) present Krishna Das and The Kirtan Wallah Tour & Concert Thursday, July 10th and Friday, July 11th, 7:00 PM at The Greer Garson Theatre on the campus of the Santa Fe University Of Art and Design, 1600 St Michaels Dr, Santa Fe, NM 87505
Layering traditional Hindu Kirtan with instantly accessible melodies and modern instrumentation, Krishna Das has been called yoga's "rock star." With a remarkably soulful voice that touches the deepest chord in even the most casual listener, Krishna Das (known to friends, family, and fans as simply KD) has taken "call-and-response" chanting out of yoga centers and into concert halls, becoming a worldwide icon and the best-selling chant artist of all time, with over 300,000 albums sold. His CD 'Live Ananda' (released January 2012) was nominated for a Grammy in the Best New Age album category. In 2013, Krishna Das performed at the Grammy awards in Los Angeles, streamed online to millions of viewers. His 2014 tour, with a complement of Wallah Musicians, celebrates the release of his 14th album, 'Kirtan Wallah,' which debuted #1 on the Billboard World Album Charts! KD offers a westward-leaning album, fully embracing his American roots in rock and country and yet embodying the spirit of deeply devotional Indian chants
Krishna Das describes Kirtan as chanting the names of the Divine and says: "The names that I chant mostly come from India and are part of the Vedic tradition. All these names are really our own true names. They're all doors into our own true being, our deepest part, what they call the Atman, the Self. Every repetition of the name, just like every time you sit down to do practice, whatever kind of practice, meditation, chanting… pulls you out of that constant daily dream that we live in; and eventually we wake up."
Concert attendees can participate directly in this devotional practice that both opens the heart and quiets the mind. As some report, it is mantra to song and dance, a celebration of Divine Joy; even to the extent of producing ecstatic states. Other attendees choose to just listen, receive and let the Kirtan transport them into deep peace.
