The first exhibition of the summer is scheduled to coincide with the opening of the Santa Fe Opera. Judith Kaufman and Lilly Fitzgerald, The Ecstasy of Gold, is a show of works from two highly respected jewelry artists. Both left the world of galleries years ago but have enthusiastically agreed to this one-time exhibit at Patina.
Kaufman and Fitzgerald both work with high karat gold and colored gems, and both explore contrasts of texture and volume. Their jewelry seems talismanic, a little ancient and mysterious in its opulence. Kaufman’s works are found in the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Art and Design and Fitzgerald’s reside in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
The exhibition runs through July 21, 2013.
