Lensic Presents Big Screen Classics
’80s Comedy Weekend
Purchase Tickets Online
Tickets : $5
The Lensic Performing Arts Center proudly presents a weekend of classic 1980s comedy. On Friday, June 14, we’ll screen Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986), written and directed by John Hughes and starring Matthew Broderick; on Saturday, June 15, we’ll show Back to the Future (1985), directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Michael J. Fox and (Santa Fe resident) Christopher Lloyd.
In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, high-school wise-guy Ferris Bueller (Broderick) pretends to be sick so he can skip school—again—and spend the day in downtown Chicago. He invites his friend Cameron and girlfriend, Sloane, to join the fun. The problem is, Ferris’s sister and the high school dean of students are both on to his mischief and determined to catch him in the act.
The Lensic Performing Art Center’s Big Screen Classics series honors the history of the Lensic Theater as Santa Fe’s favorite silver screen and community gathering place during good times and hard times.
As part of The Lensic’s mission to provide affordable programming, ticket prices are only $5, making the series accessible to the community at large. Previous Big Screen Classics presentations have included Tootsie, The Big Lebowski, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, An American in Paris, Jaws, American Graffiti, and Moonstruck.
Special thanks to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney for their ongoing support of Big Screen Classics.
