The graveyard is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Fairview is Santa Fe’s only non-Catholic pioneer cemetery and its history begins long before the May 7, 1884, date of its founding. The earliest headstone is dated 1862 and was among those moved 1895-1903 from the old Masonic-Oddfellows Cemetery downtown which was located where the Scottish Rite Masonic Center now stands and extended to the site of the present Plaza del Monte.
The graveyard is now operated as a nonprofit organization by the Fairview Cemetery Preservation Association.
