Event Description

A four-day celebration of the best in cinematic arts, the 14th Annual Santa Fe Film Festival will run May 1st- 4th, 2014 with a program of over 60 films, panels, juried awards, workshops and parties.

The Santa Fe Film Festival was first introduced in May,1980 when Bill and Stella Pence, founders of Taos Talking Picture and Telluride Film festivals, started the event with a New Directors/New Film program, co-sponsored by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The Pences led the festival for four years, with such notable guests as Francis Ford Coppola, Charlton Heston, Sam Peckinpah, and Lillian Gish.

Re-established in 1999, the film festival has now continued for 14 consecutive years, and will be held next from May 1st-4th, 2014. The special setting of this unique historic town allows filmmakers, journalists, industry leaders and audiences from around the world gather together in a relaxed, intimate environment to screen and talk about the best in new independent world cinema, celebrate the classics and engage with new languages of technology and artistic expression.

The festival program includes a curated selection of over 30 film programs including narrative and documentary features, shorts of all types, a tribute to a world-renowned film artist and a spotlight on local filmmakers. Embracing the full spectrum of cinematic arts, the Santa Fe Film Festival extends beyond screenings in theaters to panels, workshops, art exhibitions and fabulous parties. Come experience the beauty of Santa Fe in the spring, join us for our upcoming celebration of cinematic arts.
