19th Annual DeVargas Center Women’s Health Fair
Santa Fe’s DeVargas Center Merchants Association will host the 19th annual Women’s Health Fair (Fair) on Saturday, April 28th from 9 am to 3 pm. Major sponsors of the event include Natural Awakenings magazine, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Laboratory provides low-cost lab tests for both men and women. The Santa Fe Osteoporosis Center provides free bone density testing and other vendors provide free or low-cost diabetic and blood pressure testing as well as exposure to many different kinds of traditional and alternative healing and health services. Exploring Health Lymphatic Release offers free sessions throughout the day.
The historically sell-out Fair is the only one of its kind in northern New Mexico that represents all aspects of women’s healthcare and women’s and family health-related issues. Last year approximately 2,500 attendees passed through the event. Jytte Lokvig, Ph.D. and Director of the Alzheimer’s Café stated enthusiastically, “The mixture of celebration and information the DeVargas Women’s Health Fair offers us is the ideal exposure to the public.”
Each year the Fair seeks out vendors that may be new to the health care industry, offer new alternative approaches to healthy lifestyles, have information pertinent to important research findings, and those whose services help the women of New Mexico and their families to be stronger, healthier, and happier.
The April 28th event is held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission & entertainment are free. Included in entertainment at the stage at center court will be Shelley Morningsong of the Northern Cheyenne, winner of a 2011 Native American Music Award, along with Fabinan Fontenelle, world renowned Northern Traditional Native American dancer, storyteller & historian.
