This workshop will be a hands-on, interactive and practical ‘mock’ new board member orientation. The presentation is designed for nonprofit executives and board leaders. We will provide an overview of basic best practices, an understanding of who should lead the orientation and participate in the process, and opportunities for participants to draft their own agenda for an orientation. We will also discuss basic governance responsibilities, duties of board members, and roles of board and staff in key nonprofit management areas.
Jean Block organized her first fundraiser when she was 13 and was immediately hooked on how volunteers can work together to invest in a brighter future. Her career in the nonprofit sector has given Jean firsthand experience in nonprofit management and administration, strategic planning, volunteer recruitment and retention, marketing, public relations, board management, and fundraising. She has served in staff and volunteer leadership roles in local, regional and national nonprofits.
