The New Mexico Jazz Festival presents a New Mexico Jazz Festival Spring Event: The Charles Lloyd New Quartet with Maria Farantouri, featuring Jason Moran, Reuben Rogers, Eric Harland and Socratis Sinopoulos. Saxophone legend, Charles Lloyd returns to New Mexico with his latest project and recording,"Athens Concert," recorded at the foot of the Acropolis, at the open air Odeon of Herodes Atticus with the venerable Greek vocalist, Maria Farantouri (“the soul of Greece”). Known for incorporating the music of many cultures into his original compositions, Lloyd’s new project “raises the bar for `trans-cultural' music-making…embracing suites of traditional Greek music, songs of Theodorakis and Eleni Karaindrou, and Lloyd originals.”
