Event Description

Santa Fe Bandstand is a free summer music festival on the Santa Fe Plaza, produced by Outside In Productions and a crew that strives to present the city with a wide range of performers, who represent the diversity and wealth of musical talent in this region. Performances take place Monday to Thursday, through August 16, 2012. All shows are free and open to the public.

Drawing inspiration from years spent in Malaga, and in Madrid where he has worked with the finest of Spain's singers, dancers and musicians, his special technical skills combined with an exciting musical temperament have earned Carlos Lomas  the respect and admiration of flamenco guitarists around the world.

A superb presenter of flamenco, Carlos Lomas employs a precision of technique combined with the fresh harmonies and complex syncopations of the traditional Spanish structures.  This artistic relationship is the vital key in Carlos Lomas' playing.  He has exceptional skill and is a dynamic inventive musician whose artistry and magnetism have an astounding impact on his listeners.  In addition to his remarkable inventiveness, Carlos Lomas plays with an inherent respect for the emotional and cultural heritages of traditional flamenco forms.

Brought up in a musical family (his grandfather played fiddle and guitar) in Santa Cruz, NM, David has resided in Santa Fe for over 40 years. Graduating from New Mexico Highlands University with a Behavioral Sciences degree, David has worked at The Candyman “on and off” since 1972, the “off” years including stints as National Sales Director for the Hispanic Radio Network (La Red de Radio Ispana) and Director of a Senior Community Service Employment Program for the Eight Northern Counties of New Mexico. He is a “folk-oriented” instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, having played with Lumbre del Sol, Nightline Express, and Starving Cool. What makes David tick?  “A love of music and being a student of human nature,” he says. “All kinds of people walk through these doors; the simple yet sophisticated nature of the business is what keeps me here—that’s the allure. The future for The Candyman is as bright as it’s ever been.”
