BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand will stop at Sol at Santa Fe Brewing for a 21+ show on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Three String Bale provides opening support. Further information is available at www.solofsantafe.com.

Based out of West Virginia, BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand formed in 2008 and began performing locally, playing together nearly every night after work and recording at the home studio of founding member Justin Morris (vocals, guitar, bass, banjo). Soon, brothers Xander (vocals, fiddle, tenor banjo, guitar, kazoo) and Orion Hitzig (vocals, mandolin, fiddle, banjo) relocated to Maui, Hawaii to travel and explore, and began playing together on the sidewalks of Paia. Once Justin had finished mixing their debut album, he reunited with them in Hawaii, where they ultimately stayed for 9 months. On Maui, they also met Steve Sargenti, who has become a closer friend and positive influence, and who's since recorded the band's last two records. Last year, founding member Matt Del Olmo (vocals, bass, guitar, banjo) rejoined the band, along with new harmonica player and singer Katherine Fountain. All told, the band has done 15 cross-country US tours in their time, and still return to Hawaii annually.

With their original Appalachian string band sound, BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand is a quintette eager to create melodious poly-rhythms for fans far and wide, traveling and performing as a way of life to spread their unique sound. The band's first album, Fruit Goggles was comprised of early recordings from their start in West Virginia, quickly sold out of its 500 copy run on the streets of Hawaii, where their performances were often stopped by law enforcement because the crowds grew large enough to block traffic. When they returned to the mainland, instead of settling back down, they began touring constantly, picking up diehard fans in every city along the way. In the two years following their debut record, they also released two more full-lengths, entitled Gallup On You and It's A Deep Subject. BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand is currently touring on their fourth release, Live from Pa'ia Tattoo Parlor.
