Creative Santa Fe announces the launch of a market survey for creatives, artists, arts organizations, and creative sector businesses on May 23, 2013 in partnership with the City of Santa Fe and Artspace Projects, the country’s leading non-profit developer of affordable creative spaces. The survey will be available online through July 30, 2013. Artists, arts organizations and for-profit creative sector businesses are all encouraged to complete the survey. The survey will provide critical data to help the community, the city, and developers make educated choices and plan for future affordable spaces for arts and cultural activities.
Such cultural spaces are essential to support Santa Fe’s annual $1.1 billion creative sector, which accounts for nearly 17% of all jobs.
The development of more affordable work/housing opportunities for the creative workforce has been on the radar in Santa Fe for some time and identified by the community as an important need for more than a decade.
"We are excited to launch this survey and determine the design and function of this live/work space,” said Cyndi Conn, Executive Director of CrSF. “This project can be an affordable cultural anchor around which our local creative economy can continue to flourish. We need everyone's input to build a space that addresses our creative community's needs and will ensure a significant and long-term impact."
The market survey will:
*Determine the interest of creatives and artists across Santa Fe for various kinds of affordable space -- live/work, studio, rehearsal, performance, commercial, collaborative production -- and where clustering of artists occurs in the city
*Demonstrate preferences for design features and amenities
*Specify the price point creatives are able and willing to pay for space
*Indicate the entrepreneurial programs creatives need to improve their business skills
*Ask creatives for their ideas about potential locations
*Gather information to be shared with the community and potential funders in order to encourage greater investment in the arts.
Partners in this project will be hosting a market survey kick-off event on May 23, 2103 to explain the survey and answer questions. It will be available online at www.creativesantafe.org. Additional community partners will help Creative Santa Fe disseminate the survey throughout Santa Fe County.
