Nani Chacon is a Dine (Navajo) and Chicana artist. As MoCNA’s Local Artist In Residence, she will open her studio to the public and lecture about her process. Her mural is currently featured in conjunction with the exhibition, Stands with a Fist: Contemporary Native Women Artists.
Chacon’s work references an archetype of female characters which explore ideas of feminism, sexuality, form, shape, design, color, subtlety, softness and power, culture, traditionalism and modernism, encompassed in what could only be the attributes of a woman.
She will also lead a tour, through MoCNA’s Artist Studio and her mural Manifestations of Glittering World in the Allan Houser Art Park.
