Event Description

Local powerhouse author, Pasha Hogan, a three-time breast cancer survivor, and founder of Creative Recovery™—a program designed to help young cancer survivors move beyond a debilitating diagnosis and treatment to grow in their lives—will be speaking and signing her new book, Third Time Lucky: A Creative Recovery at Bookworks bookstore on Thursday, May 2, at 7:00 p.m.
• To honor the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides against Breast Cancer” walk in Albuquerque on Sunday, April 28, Hogan will be donating ten percent of proceeds from the Bookworks event to the American Cancer Society.
• Third Time Lucky has just been nominated for the Eric Hoffer 2013 Montaigne Medal, awarded to the most thought-provoking books of the year.

Hogan’s vivid, captivating story depicts how the devastating news of a third cancer diagnosis, at age thirty-one, catapulted her into chaotic, unknown territory. Confronting the ravages of cancer, identity and career crises, and depression, Hogan realized that these challenges present the opportunity to leave behind “normal” life and embrace a healthier, fuller life as her whole self. In the book she explores issues that every modern woman encounters on the journey toward health and wholeness: sexuality, body image, and empowerment. Third Time Lucky has received strong advance praise.

Larry Dossey, MD, author of Reinventing Medicine and The Power of Premonitions says, “This book is a joy to read and I could not put it down. If you or any loved ones have experienced cancer, this book should be at the top of your list. But it is about more than cancer. It is about the inherent creativity and triumphant spirit in everyone, waiting to be freed.”
