About Future Voices of New Mexico
Initiated in 2007, Future Voices of New Mexico provides hands-on instruction in photography and filmmaking to middle and high school students. This year, 355 students from 12 New Mexico schools participated in the program.
Teachers, as well as professional filmmakers and photographers, work with students on projects throughout the year. Films entered in the contest are first screened by Lensic staff, then by professional filmmakers, who determine winners in each category. Photos are judged by staff at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.
The annual awards ceremony is an opportunity not only to recognize winners, but also for all students, professionals in the field, and prospective Future Voices of New Mexico participants to view projects on the big screen.
