Hello, I’m Jim Glover, That Branding Guy, for Once a Day Marketing™. Today is Recon Thursday and we're looking at your daily branding efforts.
What's that? You say you aren't branding every day? You might not sell or market every day but the fact is you do brand every day whether you realize it or not.
A brand is comprised of favorable or unfavorable impressions created in the minds of existing and potential customers. You can't control the brand but you can certainly influence it by the actions you do or don't take. We like to say the brand is simply everything so any tiny thing impacts the brand.
For example, say someone calls your business while you are talking to a customer on another line. Your phone is supposed to go to voice mail but an error causes it to just ring and ring. After a moment he or she hangs up in frustration and calls your competition. You didn't do anything directly but the stature of your brand just plummeted in the mind of that particular customer.
