GMO OMG (2013) C-85min. D,Sc: Jeremy Seifert. Highly personalized documentary about a father who investigates genetically modified food out of concern for his three children. Monsanto is a major player, in a story about the coming end of real food.[NR]

Heaven Is For Real (2014) C-99min. D: Randall Wallace. Greg Kinnear, Kelly Reilly, Thomas Haden Church. A couple’s child very nearly dies, but comes back to life with an extraordinary account of having visited Heaven. Based on a real-life near-death experience of an actual family’s experience, and based on the #1 NY Times best-selling 2010 book by Todd Burpo (available at the SFe Public Library). [PG]


Made in America (2014) C-93min. D: Ron Howard. Concert film, shot live in Philadelphia, with Jay-Z, Rita Ora, Kanye West, Jill Scott, etc. An unlikely subject for the director. [NR]

Sabotage (2014) C-109min. D: David Ayer. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard. DEA squad faces gangster assassination, one by one, after robbing a drug cartel safe house. Ahnuld is finally looking his age. [R]


Transcendence (2014) C-118min. D: Wally Pfister. Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany, Cillian Murphy. A scientist slowly expiring of radiation poisoning allows his consciousness to be uploaded into a computer, where his brain combines with the machine’s artificial intelligence to open the door to a brave, often scary, new world. Directorial debut of the cinematographer for Crhsistopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises), who also executive produced. Smart, spectacular, shot in New Mexico (Belen, Albuquerque, I-25 Studios), and highly recommended. [PG-13]
