More music next summer on the Plaza

In response to community feedback, the folks who run the Santa Fe Bandstand concerts on the Plaza have made a number of changes to their traditional schedule. The biggest change is that we won’t have to wait until July to enjoy these great concerts —the season will now begin on Friday, June 21, the first day of summer. They have also added three Friday nights and one Saturday night to the schedule. And, to top it all off, they are extending the season until August 23, a full week after Indian Market.

Other changes include the addition of a number of special Theme Nights during the 2013 Bandstand season. Food Truck Night, Car Show Night, New Mexico Railrunner Night, Family Night and Salsa-Dance Party Night are all in the works.  Talk about being responsive to the community? The Bandstand crew wants still more input from you.

Now the object of telling you all of this information is to get you thinking about next summer right now, while we are just starting to burn some piñon firewood on these cool nights. That’s because they launched this year’s Call For Artists a couple of weeks ago on October 11 and have already received more than 200 applications from an incredible mix of local and national musicians. If you or someone you know is interested in performing for the upcoming 2013 season, you only have two weeks left to apply. The closing date to submit applications is Friday, November 30. You can find the application online.

Do you have any ideas for what you'd like to see during the upcoming season?  Got a favorite band you'd like to see?  How about a Theme Night suggestion? Let them how they can improve your Santa Fe Bandstand experience by filling out an online survey on their website. You can contact them at: www.santafebandstand.org.
