Native Women artists are the basis of the creative vision of the indigenous tribes.  Their male counterparts have been universally recognized as sculptors, painters and writers.  It seems Indian Market 2013 has amped up the contribution by women to the cultural landscape. Venues the Pojoaque’s Poeh Museum, the Pablita Velarde Museum of Indian Women in the Arts, and the Golden Dawn Gallery are at the forefront of showcasing contemporary Native women in the arts.

Native Women are front and center at Indian Market this year.  It’s the year of the amazing success of Project Runway sensation Patricia Michaels.  The success of this phenomenal talent took the nation and world by storm.  Santa Fe was mesmerized by her meteoric rise, talent, spirit and charm.

August 15, well wishers gathered at the Pojoaque’s Poeh Museum to celebrate the incredible Ms. Michaels.  Now through November 16 you can see Patricia Michaels' PM Waterlilly designs.  The support of Pojoaque’s Governor George Rivera has been an important part of Michaels' success.  The pieces are truly one of kind works of art.

I watched the Project Runway Season 11 series on the edge of my seat along with everyone else in Santa Fe. The pride we all felt watching her become the focus of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week was electric throughout The City Different.  There was not one amazing piece I did not want to take home.

Make certain you join all of the friends and supporters of Patricia Michaels on Saturday August 17 for the New York City Fashion Week Fundraiser.  If you haven’t met Patricia Michaels and the PM Water Lilly team now is your chance.  You may even win an original Patricia Michaels design.

Lots fun is expected at what promises to be the best party during Indian Market.  Do you think you have what it takes to win the Best Dressed/Most Eclectically Dressed prize? There will certainly be plenty of red carpet worthy ensembles.  Do you have the shoes to compete ladies?

This fun event will be held at the Palace Restaurant and Saloon.  The Palace happy hour menu will be in full effect all evening with five dollar apps, house margaritas, draft beer, wine and more of your favorite beverages.  The guest list is growing by the minute so make sure you are on it.  Connect with Amber-Dawn Bear Robe at bearrobe@PVMIWA.ORG for tickets.  Your best dress and a $20.00 donation gets you in the door.

August 17 at the Palace Restaurant from 6Pm until 11PM dress to impress to celebrate and support Patricia Michaels and the PM Waterlilly Team including fashion illustrator and Michaels' Design Assistant,  Amber Gunn Gauthier and their New York Fashion Week Fundraiser.
