Epic Clouds

Today I had planned to take a ride on the Slingshot (bicycle), but an old “battle” injury---specifically, the right Achilles tendon which had exploded spectacularly many years ago on the tennis court, was bothering me. It didn’t look like bad weather was in store, but Achilles knew better. So instead of a spin, I got on the Honda for a little cruise around the area. And of course I never go anywhere without the camera.

 

I headed up towards the mountains, north of town. There were a couple of errands I wanted to accomplish up there. It did not take long for the storm clouds to develop and before I knew it, I was in a downpour in the north end. Motorcycles and downpours are a bad combination, so I headed back home and towards clearer skies in the southeast part of town. From there I could get a good safe view of the “action” in the north end.

 

My plan was to head straight home but the cloud formations were simply stunning and I found myself getting sidetracked in order to take pictures. In several of my previous blogs, I have bragged about how “New Mexico specializes in epic cloud formations.” Today was no exception. And with a motorcycle, it is very easy to pull off the road and snap photos to your heart’s delight----which is exactly what I did.

 

In addition, I made a stop at a church in my neighborhood, called St. Elias. You’ll see what that’s all about from the photos.

 

Despite the old “battle” wound acting up; it was an enchanting day, as it should be, in The Land of Enchantment.
