    Andrew Lovato is native Santa Fean. He received his Ph.D. in Communication with an emphasis in intercultural communication from the University of New Mexico in 2000. He is an associate professor of Speech Communication at Santa Fe Community College. Lovato was selected as a Fulbright Scholar in 2008.


    Lovato’s books include, Elvis Romero and Fiesta de Santa Fe: Featuring Zozobra's Great Escape, published by the Museum of New Mexico Press, 2011 and Santa Fe Hispanic Culture: Preserving Identity in a Tourist Town published in 2004 by the University of New Mexico Press. Lovato is a contributing writer for four other books, Our New Mexico: A Twentieth Century History, Through the Lens: Creating Santa Fe, Nuevo Mexico: A New Mexico History AnthologyandThe Return of the River. He has also written numerous articles and given lectures for various groups and organizations on the topic of Santa Fe and New Mexico Hispanic culture.

    The purpose of the blog is to examine the communication issues and processes that we face and that shape our lives on a daily basis. One of the main characteristics that define our “humanness” is our ability to communicate with each other. This blog will look at research and ideas related to the various forms of communication and evoke discussions based on these concepts. Some of the communications areas that we will examine include interpersonal communication, gender communication, political communication, business communication, and intercultural communication. We will tie these communication forms to the issues and current events of our day.
