Richard Martin is an award-winning singer/songwriter from Nothern New Mexico. He Grew up working the rances of Eastern New Mexico. This gave him, and his brother Glenn who co-writes with him, and honest perspective of cowboy life and ways that come out in their songs and music. Their works have been published on CowboyPoetry.com. Richard has been a competitive team roper and has never lost his love of the cowboy way and our rich Western heritage.
Richard has loved and plyaed music all his life. He played with many well known Country/Western bands in New Mexico and on the road from the 1970's on. He now does original, honest, and from-the-heart Western/Folk songs as well as many old favorites. He performs mostly solo or with the accompaniment of a bass guitar and harmony from his wife Edna, who is an accomplished musician herself.
Richard has recored four CD's, including "Mail Box Money", "Bringing Water to the Land", "Morning Coffee", and "Fall Roundup". He has performed at multiple venues including live interviews on multiple radio stations including several NPR stations, the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering, the Crossroads Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Van Horn, Texas, the Willow Creek Cowboy Gathering in Alberta, Canada, the Western Music Association National Show, and the New Mexico Music Awards Show -- where he was a two-time finalist -- and won an award in 2010. His second CD "Morning Coffee" has been nominated and is a finalist for Album of the Year at the Western Music Association annual awards show in Albuquerque in November 2011.
