Biography

Yes, I could have written a typical hyped-up bio that appears to have been written by a third party who is absolutely stalking me ‘cause they just love the hell out of me and my music.  But why do that?  I’m going to try to show you that I have more respect for you than to do that.  All I’m asking is that you give me a listen.

Enjoying A Life is like a compilation CD of great tunes; each one is different.  A lot of people have said it’s like a Beatles album ‘cause each song tells it’s own story in it’s own style.  It’s a bit hard to pin the CD down, but I come from an electric guitar background – that’s what I do, I’m primarily an electric blues and rock inflluenced player – so there’s a lot of guitar.  Also great vocals, harmonies, melodies and lyrics.  I really did my best and put my heart into it.

I am honored to have been awarded the 2011 Best Pop CDaward by the New Mexico Music Awards this year.  It’s an amazing validation of my work and talent from people I deeply respect in New Mexico music.

I grew up in the Chicago area listening to WLS and WVON, pop and black radio stations.  I came of age during a time of incredible musical creativity and experimentation and it certainly left it’s mark on me.  I saw the Beatles play live at Comiskey Park, I saw the Stones, Jimi Hendrix, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield.  I hung out with the Jefferson Airplane when they came to town after meeting them at a jam session.  I formed several local bands, one of which moved lock, stock and barrel to New York City where I met Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople) and John Cale (Velvet Underground).  In fact, John Cale signed the band to his record label after hearing our demo.  But that’s another story….

Eventually I arrived in Santa Fe where I’ve made my home for the past 20 years.  I have a wife, an 18 year old daughter and two small, white dogs.  Santa Fe has been good to me and I’m grateful to be here in a place that’s sane and beautiful.
