Biography

“My Made In America Art In New Mexico”

Upon my semiretirement and the move to New Mexico during 2009, I joined several art associations and I have been actively showing my art. While enjoying my craft and discovered by a few, the idea is to get “good” rather than “commercial.” This is a very joyful time in my life and I do hope you enjoy my style.
My art is “My Made In America Art”, and I am a proud senior citizen who strives to better the community where I live. Please encourage all young people to develop their interests in the arts.

To describe my artistic style, I know it is taken from a deep spiritual transformation and is coupled with reality and drama. Each painting that I create is usually at a whim, an epiphany which inspires a longing to project what I see and capture within the scene; a shadow; the way the water moves over the rocks; a particular cloud mass that is moving across the sky and the interchange of color, glorious color that abounds around us.

From about the age of eight, I discovered that I could create art and abandoned coloring books forever. With paper and pencil I began to draw what I imagined the rock formations looked like on the moon; then at the beach; large mountains and then moved on to organic matter drawing and water coloring nature at its best. At the age of 12, my interests in architecture inspired me to discover perspective and geometry to allow creative design of buildings and building’s interiors. It seemed that a higher source always placed me in the class room with the most creative instructor from about the 5th grade up through the 12th. Also I was fortunate enough to have a highly skilled high school art instructor “Warren Frank” to train me in the classical style of oil painting. Wherein, to my amazement, Mr. Frank encouraged me to enter contests and I won awards.

During the 80’s I drifted into crafting, and dabbled in interior design. A turn in my income and interests in college studies steered me towards the study of law coupled with all types of art exploration. Then in 1990, I resolved to take up my paint brush and revisit the classical oil painting techniques learned from my previous art instructor. I joined a few artists around the San Francisco, California peninsula and began venturing outside to paint the landscape (“plein air”). I have taken many private art lessons and viewed artist’s demonstrations that have all attributed to my specific style. My home has become a working studio and all who venture in appear amazed when gazing at the walls. I believe that every person has the ability to create art; there is no bad art because living is art in full force.
