Big Jo True Value Gets Top Honor

Big Jo True Value Hardware, a local store that has thrived despite competition from national big-box retailers, has been named the 2008 Small Business of the Year by the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce and city government.
In a news release announcing the award, the Chamber of Commerce noted that Big Jo “represents the best in Santa Fe businesses through its commitment to good employee benefit programs, excellent customer service and giving back to the community.
Big Jo has been in business for more than 75 years. During the past year, the store boosted sales by more than 20 percent. The firm plans to add an additional 3,000 square feet at its Siler Road store by early 2009. The C de Baca family has owned Big Jo for 25 years.
The 2008 Business Excellence Awards were presented at the chamber’s annual banquet Thursday at the Hilton of Santa Fe.

For businesses with one to four employees, SantaFeDonations.com, which helps small businesses donate to nonprofit organizations in a way that is designed to bring more business back to the donor.
For businesses with five to 20 employees, Reflective Images Inc. The firm strives to create beautiful jewelry that supports a world community and nurtures a sustainable future.
For businesses with 21 or more employees, Brian McPartlon Roofing LLC., a 25-year fixture in Santa Fe’s business scene. The company does commercial and residential, new and retro roofing.
