Santa Fe is called the City Different for many reasons, but the Burning of Zozobra certainly stands out from the rest. Briefly, Zozobra is a giant marionnette effigy which is burned down at the climax of a late summer celebration. That description only just begins to touch on the incredible strangeness that is the Burning of Zozobra.

Sundays will soon no longer be a day of rest for New Mexico Rail Runner Express trains.
Gov. Bill Richardson announced Friday that trains will begin operating seven days a week beginning on Labor Day. Adding a morning, afternoon and evening train in both directions on Sundays is a result of rider demand, he said.
